Our Warranty on Refurbished & Remanufactured Machines
Up to five years of cover — here’s exactly how it works, and what you need to do to keep it.
Machines built to last, not just to sell
Every remanufactured machine we supply is rebuilt in an ISO-certified facility before it reaches South Africa. Worn components are replaced, not patched. Remanufactured units in particular arrive in like-new condition — stripped, rebuilt to original specification and re-finished.
That’s why we’re comfortable putting a five-year warranty behind them. It isn’t a marketing number; it’s what a properly remanufactured, properly serviced machine will do.
Two ways to buy — two levels of cover
The length of your warranty depends on how the machine is supported after installation. Every machine we supply carries a full 12-month warranty as standard. Put it on a service level agreement with United Business Solutions and that cover extends to five years, for as long as the agreement stays active.
| Purchased outright | On a United Business SLA | |
|---|---|---|
| Warranty period | 12 months | Up to 5 years |
| What's covered | Parts and labour on manufacturing or component failure | Parts and labour on manufacturing or component failure |
| Where it's done | Carry-in — the machine is returned to our workshop at your cost | On-site, as set out in your service agreement |
| If it can't be repaired | Swapped out for an equivalent unit within the warranty period | Swapped out for an equivalent unit within the warranty period |
| Scheduled servicing | Your responsibility — and a condition of the warranty | Included in the agreement |
| Consumables | Purchased separately | Toner, drum, developer and parts included |
Note: the five-year warranty applies only while the machine is on an active service level agreement with United Business Solutions. If the agreement lapses, cover reverts to the standard 12-month terms from the original date of installation.
Why servicing is the whole point
A copier is a mechanical device. Rollers wear, drums fatigue, fusers reach end of life. Those are consumable parts with a defined page life — not defects. Replace them on schedule and the machine keeps running; skip them and something else breaks under the strain.
A service level agreement takes that off your desk. Scheduled maintenance, genuine parts, toner, drum and developer are all included and all done to a service schedule, which is precisely why we can guarantee the machine for five years. It’s the same reason a warranty on an outright purchase runs for 12 months: after that, we have no visibility of how the machine has been maintained.
What the warranty covers
- Manufacturing and component failure under normal office use
- Parts and labour for the repair
- A swap-out for an equivalent unit if the machine cannot be repaired within the warranty period
What it doesn't cover
- Manufacturing and component failure under normal office use
- Parts and labour for the repair
- A swap-out for an equivalent unit if the machine cannot be repaired within the warranty period
Making a claim
Log the call with our service desk on 086 001 8500 or at info@unitedbusiness.co.za, with the machine’s serial number to hand. If your machine is on a service level agreement we come to you. If it was purchased outright, we’ll book it in and advise the return address.
Want the five-year cover?
Ask your solutions consultant to quote a service level agreement alongside your machine — in most cases the monthly cost is lower than what you’re already spending on toner and ad-hoc callouts.
