Two decades of live data
Why this desk is different
Most sales jobs hand you a phone and a phonebook. This one hands you a running machine.
For twenty years we have built one of the strongest inbound lead engines in South African office technology. CRM knows our customers' histories, contracts and buying patterns. Your job is not to find business from nothing — it is to take a live customer base and grow it via relationships.
01
Own relationships, not call lists. Understand each customer's branches, expansion plans and daily frustrations — and be the person they phone first.
02
Sell the whole portfolio. Printing and copiers, cloud and on-site VoIP, connectivity, and CCTV and Access Control through Intervid Africa. One customer, many solutions.
03
Move at our speed. Professional quotes out fast, meeting follow-up that actually lands. We train the process. We expect this excellence delivered to the customers.
How we see the job
Let the machines do the admin. You do the relationships.
We are not anti-technology — we are the opposite. AI and our CRM handle the quoting, the data capture and the follow-up reminders, so your hours go where they actually pay: sitting with customers, understanding their business, and building trust no system can fake. Humans with the best tools behind them are the future of this trade, and that is the desk we are hiring for.
The money
There is no ceiling. That is the design, not a slogan.
Market related
basic + uncapped commission
We partner — customer, consultant, company. When you solve a customer's business technology needs, everyone wins, so our goal is to empower you to earn as much as possible. No caps, no quota games, no "commission review" the moment you earn properly.
The people who do best here are the ones who treat their desk like their own business. If that is how you think about your work, we should talk.
What we look for
Four things. Non-negotiable.
Drive
Self-motivated, with evidence of achievement — not titles, outcomes. This role should be your big chance, and you should be hungry for it.
Curiosity
You stay current, you have informed opinions, and you ask better questions than most people answer.
Take Action
You start, you finish, you close loops. You bring solutions with the problems you find.
Ethics
No hiding the truth — ever. "I don't know, but here's how I'd find out" beats a bluff every time.
We weigh potential intelligence and aptitude over raw years of experience. A shorter track record with an exceptional written answer to our hardest-problem question will get you the same interview as a fifteen-year CV.
Our hiring funnel
Read carefully. This is the first test.
Only candidates who follow the full process will be considered.
01
Apply using the form below by [closing date], attaching your CV.
02
Include a written answer to this question: "Tell me about the hardest commercial problem you've ever solved. How exactly did you solve it? Describe every step."
03
In the reference field, enter the answer to this: a customer prints 10 000 pages a month and pays R0.55 a page, all in. We offer them a machine at R2 400 a month rental plus R0.21 a page. How much do they save over a 36-month contract? Rand figure only.
04
Shortlisted candidates complete a short written assessment and a structured interview.
05
Final-stage candidates undergo two reference checks.
Applications that do not follow all five steps will not be considered. A four-month probation period applies.
Open roles
Four desks. Choose the one that fits you.
Every role below sits inside the same group, on the same commission structure, with the same lead engine behind it. Read the full spec, then apply once — you can name a second preference on the form.
You take custody of a live portfolio of existing managed-print customers across Johannesburg — companies already billing with us, already in CRM, with twenty years of contract and service history behind them. Your job is to keep them, grow them, and find the next machine, the next site, the next contract renewal before a competitor does.
- —A named portfolio of existing B2B accounts, with retention and growth targets on each.
- —Fleet assessments and cost-per-page analysis — building the savings case in rands, not adjectives.
- —Contract renewals and upgrades ahead of expiry, not after the competitor's quote lands.
- —Cross-sell into telecoms and security — the group sells four things to the same buyer.
- —Your own pipeline hygiene in HubSpot. If it isn't in CRM, it didn't happen.
- —Two years or more in B2B sales or account management. Industry experience is welcome, not required.
- —Matric. A relevant tertiary qualification counts in your favour.
- —Valid driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle.
- —Numerate enough to build a cost comparison a financial manager cannot pick apart.
- —Clean written English. You will be judged on your application answer before anything else.

United Telecoms sells hosted PBX, VoIP and business fibre into the same customer base that already rents our machines. That is the whole advantage: you are not cold-calling strangers about connectivity, you are walking into companies that already trust the group and asking a better question about their phone bill.
- —Hosted PBX, VoIP and fibre solutions sold into existing group accounts and inbound leads.
- —Line-and-call analysis: reading a Telkom bill and showing what it should actually cost.
- —Site surveys with our technical team, then a quote that survives scrutiny.
- —Annuity revenue — this desk builds a monthly recurring book that pays you every month it lives.
- —Two years or more in B2B sales. Telecoms, connectivity or ICT experience is a strong advantage.
- —Comfortable with technical detail — extensions, porting, SLAs, bandwidth — without hiding behind it.
- —Matric, valid driver's licence, own reliable vehicle.
- —The patience for a longer sales cycle and the discipline to work it in CRM.

This is the hunting desk. Inbound gives you a warm start, but this role is measured on logos that were never ours — new companies, new sites, new contracts. If you are the person who would rather open ten doors than manage one portfolio, this is the seat, and it is the shortest route in the group to a sales management role.
- —A new-business target across print, telecoms and security — the full group offering.
- —Your own prospecting engine, supported by marketing campaigns and twenty years of market data.
- —Tenders and multi-site proposals, from first meeting to signed rental agreement.
- —Clean handover into account management once an account is bedded down.
- —Three years or more of new-business B2B selling, with numbers you can evidence.
- —A track record of self-generated pipeline — not inherited territory.
- —Matric, valid driver's licence, own reliable vehicle.
- —The resilience to be told no and dial again the same afternoon.

Intervid Africa is the group's surveillance and access-control business — CCTV, IP camera systems, access control and monitoring, sold and supported nationally. This desk suits someone who enjoys walking a site, counting the risk, and specifying the answer. It is the most technical of the four roles and the most consultative.
- —Site surveys and camera-count specification — coverage, lux, storage, retention period.
- —Access control and monitoring proposals for multi-site commercial and industrial clients.
- —Existing Intervid accounts plus warm referrals from the wider group customer base.
- —Working alongside technical teams from survey through to commissioning and sign-off.
- —Two years or more in B2B or technical sales. Security, CCTV or electronics experience is a strong advantage.
- —Genuine technical curiosity — you will be reading spec sheets, not skipping them.
- —Matric, valid driver's licence, own reliable vehicle. Some national travel.
- —PSIRA registration is an advantage; we will support the right candidate to obtain it.

Applying for
Questions we get asked
Straight answers, before you apply.
Is there a basic salary, or is this commission only?
Every role carries a guaranteed, market-related monthly basic salary plus uncapped commission. We do not advertise commission-only sales roles, and the basic is discussed openly at first interview.
Do I have to find my own leads?
The account management roles start from an existing portfolio and inbound enquiries generated by our marketing. The new business role is expected to self-generate, supported by campaigns and twenty years of market data in HubSpot.
Where are these roles based, and can I work remotely?
All four roles are based at our Rivonia, Sandton office and are field-facing across Johannesburg. These are not remote positions — you will be in front of customers and in the office with your team.
Do I need industry experience in copiers, telecoms or CCTV?
No. It helps, but we weigh aptitude and evidence of achievement above years in the industry. We train the product and the process.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes. Submit one application, name your first choice, and tell us your second preference in the form. Duplicate applications do not improve your odds.
What happens after I apply, and how long does it take?
Applications close [closing date]. Shortlisted candidates are contacted within two weeks of closing for a written assessment and a structured interview, followed by two reference checks. If you have not heard from us four weeks after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
What do you do with my personal information?
Your application is processed in line with POPIA, used only for recruitment purposes, and retained for twelve months unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
"Machines can quote. They can't care. We're hiring the part that can't be automated."
We are an equal opportunity employer.
